Wouldn’t want to be a Charger fan right now

I wouldn’t be happy if I was a San Diego Chargers fan right now. After all, your coach was apparently crying after winning a wild-card playoff game. That’s right, to win the Super Bowl, he would need to win three more games in a row, but he’s crying now.

Let me be clear: there are times and places for happy tears after a sporting event. If you’re an NBA team, it’s after winning the NBA Championship. If you’re a baseball player it’s after winning the World Series, or the Olympics, or something equally profound. If you’re the New York Knicks, it will be after the last game of the Isiah Thomas era.

But if you’re an NFL team with possibly the best running back in the history of football, a defense studded with Pro Bowl-caliber players, and a game on the road against the defending Super Bowl champions next week? The time for relief and tremendous joy (to the point of tears) is not right after you beat the 6th seed in your own house when their QB wasn’t even 100%. More like it’s the time to get your ass into the video room and figure out how you’re going to stop the Colts next week.

But hey, that’s just me.
